Logistics & Supply Chain Management Companies in Singapore to hire over 1,000 people this year
Global logistics and supply chain management (SCM) companies in Singapore would recruit over 1,200 skilled workers this year, creating new logistics jobs.
The available positions in the sector are created by the S$481 million business investments spent in 2009, announced a recent press release by Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The positions include SCM planners, managers, research engineers and other skilled workers.
Global expansion driving force behind more logistics jobs
The influx of logistics jobs in the industry is driven by the increased business expansions of global logistics and SCM companies in Singapore. Last year, those companies located strategic functions including the introduction of regional headquarters, global business units and shared services divisions in the country.
Some key developments include the setting up of Zuellig Pharma’s Specialty Solutions Group’s global headquarters for its new bio-logistics services in Singapore. TNT’s new regional air hub and the opening of DKSH’s global centres for finance and executive training in Singapore also contribute to the creation of jobs in the market.
“Singapore’s world-class logistics capabilities and sophisticated lead market present a strategic site for them to identify and respond to rising opportunities in Asia,” said Julian Ho, EDB’s assistant managing director.
