Dell has opened a solutions centre in Singapore, which will be a showcase for next-generation computing, intelligent data management, end-user computing as well as technologies specific to various vertical markets. According to ZDNet Asia, the centre is one of four such Dell facilities in the Asia-Pacific region and is part of the company’s US$1 billion (SGD 1.21 billion) global investment announced in April.
Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) will be opening a regional office in Singapore. CIPD Asia will build on the CIPD’s work on the Next Generation HR programme, which contained a substantial research strand examining the development of next generation HR practice in Asia and the implications for the West. The CIPD currently has around 500 members in Asia, with the majority of those in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong. It is hoped that the new regional base will help to significantly grow that figure. CIPD Asia will be led by Sarah Miles.
eFinancialCareers reported that Goldmans Sachs is flaunting a new office space in Singapore and apparently also hiring? The firm is recruiting mainly in the middle office, for roles in product control, financial controllers, operations and settlements. The bank will have hired at least 200 staff by year end.
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore opened its new port operations control centre at the Changi Naval Base. The new centre, which cost S$25m ($21m) to build, is Singapore’s third control centre.
Corvil, a provider of latency management systems for high performance trading and market data, opened its regional headquarters in Singapore. The office will service a growing client base and will be used as a launch pad for further expansion throughout the Asia-Pacific region, which it believes is a key growth market.
