Salaries in the IT industry in Singapore have continued to rise given the talent shortage.
Salaries have grown on an average of 10-15% according to the Singapore IT Salary Guide (2015/2016) by ZW HR Consulting.
Mr. Mervin Chui, the Managing Director of ZW HR Consulting, stated, “The year 2015 is likely to turn out to be a reasonably good period for IT professionals. The average salary ranges for professionals are up by 10% - 15% for 2015/16 as compared to the 2014/15 figures; hiring is still strong in many areas such as mobile applications, data analytics, business intelligence and cloud computing. Cyber Security professionals and Application Developers are in demand due to increasing regulations and customers concern for data protection.”
Continuing discussions of the industry, Ms. Yvonne Tang, Director for IT Practice at ZW HR Consulting said, “Against the backdrop of a talent scarcity across Singapore, experienced skilled professionals can expect to see salary hikes. Technology drives so many aspects of a modern business - from sales growth to productivity improvements - employers will need to consider increasing salaries to keep pace with inflation to retain their high-caliber workforce”.
If companies wish to attract and retain good IT talent, they must stay on top of the salary curve and show that their company has a great future for talented IT professionals.
In Singapore specifically, the report states that good work-life balance and employee engagement policies are important for employees, and must be kept progressive as well.
A shortlist of the positions that will be in particularly high demand was also released, and are as follows:
- Software Developers
- Mobile Application Developers
- Database Administrators
- Cloud Computing
- Information Security/ Cyber Security
- Network Engineers
- Helpdesk/ Technical Support
- Project Managers
- Web Designers/Developers
- Big Data.
