headlines Google plans to increase headcount in Singapore Google seeks to expand its operations in the Asia-Pacific region, with 50 new positions to be based in Singapore.

Asia-Pacific vice-president of sales and operations of Google, Daniel Alegre, said in an interview with The Business Times, that the company plans to recruit 50 new employees in Singapore out of the 250 new job positions generated across the region.

Explaining Google’s employment decision, Alegre said “what we really want to do is to grow the support operations in Singapore, as well as have a much stronger presence across the region.”

The new hires will be placed across various job departments, including engineering, sales, marketing, human resource, administration and finance. Google has confidence in the calibre of Singapore’s workforce and sees the expansion as “a pivotal part of [the] Asia-Pacific strategy”.
