A Few Quick Talent Management Lessons, From The Top Companies To Work For In 2013

Green apple on stack of red books.Glassdoor released a list of the top companies to work for in 2013. The results are based on employee feedback and amongst the top are companies such as Facebook, McKinsey, Riverbed Technologies, Bain & Company, Google, Edelman, National Instruments, In-And-Out Burger and BCG.

There are some things which good employers provide, that are mentioned over and over by employees. These include:

  • Interesting and challenging work.
  • Work that has a positive impact on society.
  • Talented and motivated colleagues.
  • Good office environment and facilities.
  • Genuine care for employees.
  • Sufficient personal and professional development opportunities.
  • Work flexibility.

Many of the top companies to work for are doing quite well financially. I think a HUGE part of that is the ability to attract and retain talented people, with things that other companies consider a waste of time.

The talent management lesson is simple - take good care of your employees and their needs. These needs are not frivolous or a waste of money (there is a reason that Google offices have amazing cafeterias, slides and game rooms :) ). By doing this, your company will greatly increase the chances of becoming successful.
