According to the The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) - Total employment growth for 2010 was 3.9 per cent, unemployment rate for 2010 was 2.2 per cent and labour productivity growth was 7.8 per cent in Q42010.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) revealed on Tuesday that Singapore’s labour market recovered strongly in 2010, adding 115,900 jobs, after the recession in 2009.
Total employment growth for 2010 was 3.9 per cent, far exceeding the 37,600 or 1.3 per cent in 2009, MOM said in a statement.
Job growth for the fourth quarter of 2010 strengthened to 33,900, supported by hirings for the year-end festivities, MOM added.
Unemployment remained low during 2010, with overall unemployment rate rising slightly in the quarter to a seasonally adjusted 2.2 per cent in December from 2.1 per cent in September.
Among the resident labour force, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.1 per cent, with 57,400 unemployed residents in December 2010, the MOM report said.
Labour productivity grew over 2010 by 7.8 per cent in the fourth quarter, higher than the 6.2 per cent increase in the previous quarter. MOM said nominal earnings grew by 7.5 per cent over the year in the fourth quarter of 2010. Weighed down by higher inflation, real earnings rose by 3.4 per cent.
